   The surgery went fine, the recovery has been exactly as they told me it would be and I’m still planning on performing at the Hilton on November 27th.

   This Episode will be the 1991 New Years Eve performance of “Showstoppers” at the Universal Amphitheater.

   It’s a very exciting show. I’ll describe what it is when we post it.

URGENT ManilowTV Message

Several days ago we started to receive emails from friends  who were concerned that a ManilowTV subscriber in Europe had started selling illegal bootleg DVD copies of the Manilow TV broadcasts. Like all of us, they were surprised that someone who pretended to be a fan was really out to rip off Barry and all the other musicians, artists, songwriters, casts, and crews who are involved in the production of these programs.  Like all of us, they were offended that someone who had previously agreed not to be a bootlegger, would again try to rip off everyone while pretending to just be a good fan.  Right.
 
This person has again been notified by the legal team and has again promised  not to engage in illegal activities.  This time, however, we have also notified the authorities in the host country and have blocked all ManilowTV access for subscribers in the host country and for those associated with the bootlegger.   Hopefully this will stop the bootlegger and allow ManilowTV to continue.
 
It’s interesting to note that quite a few European countries have bootlegging laws much stronger than the US.  Bootleggers routinely face fines, prison sentences and lifetime denial of internet access for infractions that many in the US would consider minor.  Hopefully, our actions and the risk of further action by local governmental authorities will encourage this person to finally stop before we are forced to shut down ManilowTV.
 
To all of you who took the high road and shared both your concern and your disgust….thank you.

    The Hollywood Bowl show was a fantastic experience for all of us. The crowd was amazing and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra was magnificent. Hearing those beautiful arrangements and orchestrations made me want to stop singing and just listen to them!

   The music was definitely a highlight of the night, but a close second was the knowledge that we were raising money to buy musical instruments for kids in the L.A. schools. 

    As you know, because of budget slashes, the Music and Arts departments of the public schools all over the country are being cut. read more>>

a. We were in the round for the first time

b. There are songs during the shows that I don't remember ever singing again

c. The cast of "Copacabana" which was playing in the West End at the time was in the audience on the second night.

Stuff like that.
 
We began the 12 show tour in London, did the tour all over the country and then came back and ended the tour for two extra nights at the Wembley Arena.
These two shows are our last nights of that tour.

They stuck Marc and his camera up in the gods, but he's so great at this that I think you'll still get a very good sense of the show.

Hi everyone,

    Boy oh boy, this is a very busy and productive time in Manilow-land!
    I thought I’d bring you all up to date on what I’m working on since there is so much happening.

    Manilow TV is a very exciting project and it’s just about ready to go.
    The videos that I’m about to share with all of you were never meant to be shown publicly. They were meant for me to study and for archival purposes, but I thought that some of you would find them interesting and entertaining, so I’ve decided to share them with you.
    It’s taken a huge amount of technical work to put them online. Many people have worked long and hard to put this project together, but I’m so grateful to all of you for sticking with me for all these years, I decided to let them out.
    I sincerely hope you enjoy them and that they bring back great memories for all of you and surprises for those of you who never got to see those performances.

    The Hollywood Bowl concert is fast approaching and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I’ve never performed an evening there and it should be thrilling for all of us.
    We’ve got the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra backing us up. Hearing all of these gorgeous arrangements and orchestrations finally being played by a 50 member orchestra should be fantastic. I can’t wait. Hope you can make it.

Now about the next few CD releases.
    My “Fifteen Minutes” CD isn’t ready to release yet. As I’ve told you, it’s more guitar driven and rock oriented than I’ve ever done
    Since I’m in uncharted waters, it’s taking me longer to create this one than I expected.
    I’m very proud of the 17 songs that Enoch Anderson and I have written. They’re emotional and edgy and they all tell a story. I think you’ll like it.
    However, it won’t be done until next summer.
 
    In the meantime Clive Davis has asked that I record a CD called “Barry Manilow Sings The Greatest Love Songs Of All Time”.
    I know I said that I was done with recording cover albums, but getting to sing and arrange songs written by Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Burt Bacharach was a very difficult thing to turn down.
    We’re nearly done with this CD and I must tell you it’s turning out to be one of the most beautiful albums I’ve ever made.
    It’s an honor to sing and arrange songs written by the greatest composers of all time.
 
    Releasing three albums of music in 18 months is amazing. Lots of work, but very satisfying and creative.
    Between all of albums, Manilow TV and a brand-new live show in Vegas, I hope you don’t get sick of me!
    I’ve been getting comments about how thin I look these days. That’s me. Skinny guy. But I’m healthy and filled with energy and thank goodness, I still have my hair! So please don’t be concerned about me.
    As long as I have my music and all of you, I’m fine.

Manilow Wows Sold-Out British Crowd as U.S. Dates Near

Fresh off of headlining a massive sold-out show in London, Grammy-winning artist and flat-out music icon Barry Manilow is set to bring that momentum to the U.S. next month starting with gigs in California.

Manilow is coming back across the pond and will be rocking crowds in San Diego on October 18 and at the Hollywood Bowl on October 24. Can't wait that long to see Barry? He's also belting out three shows at the Las Vegas Hilton three times a week.

Manilow's U.S. gigs come after he played to a sold-out crowd of 40,000 at the BBC's Proms in the Park series on September 12.  Aside from his upcoming shows, he's also slated to release a new album in February 2010.

There are those who talk about helping and then there are those who actually do. We are so blessed in this community to have many to whom this applies.

One of the Coachella Valley's luminaries stepped to the fore, again, and with little fanfare changed the lives of a group of students.

You might recall that in September, Barry Manilow kicked off the Manilow Music Project through encouraging individuals to get involved in local schools by donating instruments or music. He collected the needs from all of the middle and high schools in the Coachella Valley and donated $500,000 of instruments, stands and music.

His message was clear: “Anyone can do it, anyone. Just call your local elementary or high school and talk to the music director. See what they need. You can send them a set of drums or used trumpets that are in your basement, and that would make all the difference in the world to young kids. Manilow Music Project Welcomes Students To Ultimate Manilow at Las Vegas Hilton

LAS VEGAS—Friday night, Barry Manilow welcomed students from Palm Springs High School to his new show “ULTIMATE MANILOW: The Hits” at the Las Vegas Hilton.  These students are direct recipients of instruments donated from the Manilow Music Project.

In response to a cry for help from the local area schools due to the critical condition that music instruments were in, Manilow answered the call. Knowing the value of a music education, Manilow gathered together some of his close friends and with cooperation of the Yamaha Corporation, the Manilow Music Project was born.  21 schools in the Coachella Valley, where Manilow resides, received their selected instruments last September.  

“I am so happy to help the kids and the schools.   Anyone can do it, anyone!  Just call your local elementary or high school and talk to the music director, see what they need.  You can send them a set of drums or used trumpets that are in your basement and that would make all the difference in the world to young kids.  That is the key, helping the kids and making a difference in their lives and their future” says Manilow.

Having begun his long-term engagement with the Hilton in 2005 with “Manilow: Music and Passion,” Manilow’s latest show “ULTIMATE MANILOW: The Hits” debuted in August of 2008.  “ULTIMATE MANILOW: The Hits” is filled to the brim with the chart-topping music that is the soundtrack to all our lives.  With the vast catalog Manilow can draw upon, his show is different every night.

Manilow Concert Update: Spokane Concert Rescheduled

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Additional rehearsal in the development of Barry Manilow’s new  show at the Las Vegas Hilton have forced the postponement of ULTIMATE MANILOW…..originally scheduled for Saturday night in Spokane.  The new date for the concert is Friday, October 23rd.  Tickets for the Saturday, March 14 concert will be honored at the rescheduled Friday, October 23rd concert.

Manilow’s Sunday night benefit concert for Cystic Fibrosis in Everett will go on as scheduled.

Manilow’s longterm engagement at the Las Vegas Hilton has seen the launch of two major productions:  “MUSIC & PASSION,” and “ULTIMATE MANILOW.”  A third production, soon to be announced, is currently in rehearsal and in development.
